FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2020
TO: Parents & Guardians
FROM: Mrs. Athena Beaty, Administrator/Principal
SUBJECT : School Closing
March 13, 2020

Dear F.D. Reese Christian Academy Staff and Parents,

At this time, with the collaborative efforts between the Howard County Health Department, other Howard County school districts and governmental agencies, we believe closing schools as a preventive measure from Monday, March 16th through Sunday, April 5th is in the best interest for the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 public health threat with assistance from the Howard County Health Department, the Indiana State Department of Health, the Indiana Department of Education, other Howard County governmental agencies and Howard County school districts. We will reassess prior to April 5th if additional measures need to be taken. We recognize that while this situation is not ideal for students, staff or parents, it is important for the health and safety of our overall community.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the dedicated people at the Howard County Health Department, the other Howard County school districts, and to our staff at F. D. Reese Christian Academy who have been working tirelessly to prepare and plan for our students and families. Thank you for your continued support of FDRCA. There are many questions surrounding the COVID-19 virus and its impact on the Academy. We will continue to share information and update you as regularly as possible through our school messenger system and school website.

How will FDRCA address student learning while school is closed?

FDRCA will close all school buildings and facilities beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. This was based on guidance from the Howard County Health Department and in collaboration with other Howard County school districts and governmental agencies. The students will receive various supplemental learning material, projects, and access to learning websites. Teachers will be in constant contact with their students.

Tuition Payment

Monday, March 16, 2020 the office will be open between 10 am and 2pm to accept payments.

The purpose of F.D. Reese Christian Academy is to encourage Christ likeness in every student. To accomplish this purpose we want to provide conditions whereby boys and girls can receive the truth of God’s Word to develop Christ-like attitudes and actions. Jesus instructed His disciples in John 8:32, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free,” Not only is it our objective to teach the truth, but also to teach our students how to apply the truth wisely to their own lives. In John 16:13 we are promised that “when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth.”

Our Christian school has the responsibility to provide the best possible education. A Biblical worldview in the vital areas of life, spiritual growth, education, personal self-discipline, and patriotism, must be strongly stressed to each student during his years of training. We desire to minister to the needs of the whole child and to promote his spiritual and moral growth, academic and intellectual progress, and physical and social development.

Additionally, our Christian school is to be an extension of the Christian home and church, and thus provide a continuity of training for Christian young people. We, as Christian educators, desire to train each student to accept individual responsibility to God for his actions and to challenge him to glorify God in every facet of his life.
